Actinic dermatitis is an inflammation of the skin that occurs as a result of radiation exposure. Actinic dermatitis can be caused by sunlight, artificial sources of UV radiation and ionizing radiation. Chronic actinic dermatitis can develop in farmers, welders, smelters and foundries, radiologists. Treatment of actinic dermatitis includes the use of healing creams and agents for the treatment of burns, the prevention of infection and the fight against pain. When necrotic changes in large areas of the skin may require plastic closure of the defect.
Symptoms of Actinic Dermatitis
Acute actinic dermatitis of solar origin is characterized by reddening and puffiness of the skin with a sensation of burning, itching or pain. Sometimes it occurs with fever, nausea, weakness and common intoxication. As a rule, solar dermatitis leads to large lamellar skin peeling. In some cases, serous blisters may appear on the skin, after eruption of which erosion is formed. In chronic sunny dermatitis, the exposed areas of the skin have a bronze hue, they become dry and thickened, red plaques appear on them.
Treatment of Actinic Dermatitis
Treatment of acute actinic dermatitis from sunlight or artificial UV rays consists in the use of cooling lotions, healing creams and means for treating burns . When bubbles appear, they are pierced.
In the treatment of the first stage of radiation actinic dermatitis, corticosteroids, linetol, linol are applied topically. When bubbles are formed, a liquid is drained from them and a pressure bandage is applied. When suppuration, the bladder is opened and a disinfectant ointment is applied, the patient is prescribed an antibiotic. Treatment in the stage of necrosis is aimed at preventing infection, stopping pain, strengthening immunity, stimulating healing processes. If the area of necrosis is well delimited, then surgical excision is performed. In large non-healing areas of necrosis, a plastic operation may be required, and in extremely severe cases, amputation of the limb may be required.
